Can I refund a customer from OrderPilot?

Yes, Refund Payment records a cash refund that you return yourself. It does not refund the customer's card or restock goods.

For a card refund or item return, open the Shopify order and handle the refund there. Shopify's refund updates sync back to OrderPilot.

What does Refund Owed mean on an order?

Refund Owed means the customer's recorded payments exceed the order's current total, often after an edit lowers the price. The label does not issue a refund. Check payments and refunds, then return the difference through the appropriate route: cash in OrderPilot or a card refund in Shopify.

Does a refund in OrderPilot restock items?

No. Refund Payment in OrderPilot records a cash refund without item lines, so it does not put goods back into stock.

Handle item returns and restocking on the Shopify order. Check the resulting refund and stock records separately.

How do I refund a separate deposit order?

Open Payments and Invoices, choose View deposit order, and refund the deposit on that Shopify order. OrderPilot then adds the refunded portion back to the main draft's balance. Check both records after Shopify's update arrives so the customer is asked for the correct remaining amount.
