Why can I view a customer but not edit their profile?

Short answer

Viewing customer profiles requires View quotes and orders, while saving changes requires Create and edit quotes and orders.

If Edit profile or New quote is missing, ask an administrator to check your role. Changing the customer field setup separately requires Manage shop settings.
