Does editing a customer field on an order change the customer profile?

In the appCustomers and portalUpdated 2 Nov 2026

Short answer

Yes. A customer field marked Shown, editable on quotes and orders saves back to the Shopify customer.

The value belongs to that customer's profile, rather than only to the sale you have open.

Choose Shown in customer field settings when staff should read the value without editing it from an order.

Does editing a sent PO email the vendor?

No. Saving a sent PO does not email the vendor automatically.

OrderPilot asks Send the updated PO to the vendor. Choose Send updated PO… to review the email, or Not now to leave the update unsent.

Resend email remains available on eligible POs for later.

Someone else changed the PO while I was editing. What now?

Click Reload purchase order, review the latest version, and enter your intended changes again. OrderPilot refuses the older save so it cannot overwrite another person's update. Unsaved edits on the old PO page are not kept, so note the changes you still need before reloading.

Does editing a signed quote require a new signature?

A customer-facing edit can make the existing signature no longer apply to the current quote, in the app or on POS. Changes to prices, quantities, options, fees, shipping or discounts can require a new signature. The earlier signed copy remains as superseded evidence; check Re-Sign and have the customer sign the updated agreement.

Does editing an item's description change its Shopify product?

Only when you enable Sync to Shopify in the line's Edit description dialog. The toggle starts off as Don't Sync to Shopify. Leave it off for wording intended for that sale alone.

Other orders retain their own saved descriptions even when you update the Shopify product description.
