Why does my draft say an option is no longer offered?

In the appQuotes and ordersUpdated 2 Nov 2026

Short answer

The template no longer offers the saved option value, or an option rule now hides it.

Reopen the draft's item and select an available value. Choose Leave empty only where allowed.

Resolve the unavailable selections before using Create Quote, then review the resulting configuration and total.

What is the difference between options and order fields?

Options describe a product line and can add to its price; order fields collect information once for the whole quote or order. Fabric belongs on the Linden Sofa line, while Delivery floor belongs to the order.

Order fields never change the price. Options and order fields share one internal-name list, so each name can be used only once.

Do categories decide which options a product shows?

No. A template's options and bundles determine which choices it offers.

Categories group templates, set their Shopify product type, and carry warranty, terms, signature, deposit and commission rules. Assigning Linden Sofa to Sofas does not automatically add Fabric or Cushion Fill.

Can I delete an option?

No. Archive an option through More actions > Archive option instead. The option stops appearing on new products and orders, while saved orders keep their recorded choices.

Archiving preserves its template attachments. Open the option from Archived and choose Restore option to return it where it was used.

Can I change an option's type after creating it?

Yes. Open the option, change Type, and save. Changing a Dropdown or Swatch to another type removes its saved values and the rules and prices that reference them.

Review the confirmation before choosing Change the type. Placed orders keep their records, and Image is unavailable as a new type.
