Why did my quote number change?

In the appQuotes and ordersUpdated 2 Nov 2026

Short answer

OrderPilot can replace a quote's Shopify draft number with the Shopify order number when the sale is placed.

The previous number remains beside it as formerly, and either number finds the sale in search. Stores using custom numbering can see a different pattern because a custom order number takes priority.

How do I change how purchase orders are numbered?

Open SettingsPurchasing & accountingPurchase orders & costingPurchase orders. Turn on Purchase order numbering, and set Prefix and Next number.

Save the settings. Without custom numbering, POs start at PO-0001 and skip numbers already taken.

Changes apply to new purchase orders.

Who can enter serial numbers?

Staff with Add and edit serial numbers can enter serials in OrderPilot for orders within their change scope. A unit must be fulfilled in Shopify before it accepts a serial. Staff without that access see serials read-only.

Shopify POS also shows serial information read-only; enter or correct serials in the OrderPilot app.

Why was my serial number refused?

A serial is refused if it duplicates another unit's serial for the same product, exceeds 100 characters, or belongs to an unfulfilled unit. Already assigned to Order identifies the existing order and unit. Check the physical serial and existing assignment before correcting either record.

If another staff member changed the serial, close and reopen the dialog first.

How do I find a customer's warranty by serial number?

Enter the serial in Warranty coverage look-up to find the product unit and its coverage. The warranty claims queue and Start a claim also accept serial searches. Check the customer, order, and unit before starting service.

Coverage look-up also supports customer, order, and product searches if the serial isn't available.
