Does a vendor rule or a category rule win?

Short answer

A category warranty rule takes precedence over a vendor rule.

A category-and-vendor rule is more specific again, followed by the product's own term and an authorized order override. Blank levels are skipped.

Category rules reach subcategories, and the deepest ruled category wins. Use Check a product to see the applied source for a template and vendor.

What happens to my templates when I delete a category?

Deleting a category removes that category from its templates; the templates themselves remain. Direct subcategories move to the top level.

Affected Shopify product types are re-synced or cleared if no category remains. OrderPilot does not check whether templates use the category before deletion, so review those templates first.

Why does a template read No vendor?

No vendor means the template has no available vendor, including when its assigned vendors are inactive. Staff can still add the template, but the new line needs an active vendor. Open the template's Organization settings and choose vendors, or enable Offer all vendors to include active vendors added later.

Can I delete a vendor?

No. Open the vendor at SettingsPurchasing & accountingVendors, turn off Active Vendor, and click Update Vendor.

The inactive vendor leaves pickers while its history remains. Turn Active Vendor back on when staff should be able to choose it again.

A vendor appeared that I never added. Where did it come from?

OrderPilot creates a missing vendor when someone chooses a Shopify product with that vendor on a quote. Installation and Sync from Shopify also bring in vendor names.

New imported vendors are active Shopify records. Open the vendor to add purchasing contact details, since a Shopify vendor name does not supply a purchase-order email address.
