Why did a new stock variant get a cost when publishing is off?

In the appInventory and costsUpdated 2 Nov 2026

Short answer

A new stocked variant starts with its PO unit cost even when ongoing Shopify cost publishing is off.

Later updates follow Keep Cost per item updated for stocked products and publish only final costs. The initial value and the continuing publishing setting serve different stages of stock creation.

Does publishing an email send it to customers?

No. Publish makes the email design available for future sends; it doesn't send a message by itself. Save the draft, preview it, and publish when ready.

Customer sends still depend on a staff action or an automatic trigger. Previously scheduled emails retain the version chosen when they were scheduled.

Can I preview an email with a real order before publishing?

Yes. In the editor's Email preview, choose Desktop or Mobile, then Sample order or a recent quote or order. The preview includes unsaved edits.

A test email is different: it uses sample order details even after a real-order preview, and it doesn't include a real portal link.

Why does publishing an email ask for a Message block?

Every email template needs exactly one Message block to hold the text staff enter when sending. Add a Message block if none exists, or remove extras if there are several. Save and preview the corrected draft before publishing.

Other text and heading blocks don't replace the required Message block.
