Fix a quote or order that didn’t sync to Shopify

4 min readUpdated 31 Oct 2026Advanced

Home says records failed to sync to Shopify, or your quote says signing is blocked. Find the affected record, read Shopify's reason and retry after correcting it.

A saved record in OrderPilot does not prove that Shopify has accepted it. Until the sync succeeds, the customer cannot sign the affected quote.

Check these first

Is it still syncing?

If the record says Syncing with Shopify, wait for that attempt to finish before trying again.

Can you retry?

Your role needs Create and edit quotes and orders or Convert quotes to orders.

Do you have the reason?

Hover over the red sync status on the record. Keep the exact message when asking for help.

How OrderPilot syncs with Shopify explains the connection between the 2 records. Stock does not track through the Shopify record until that record exists.

Find every failed record

  1. Step 1: Open the count on Home

On Home, find the banner showing how many records failed to sync to Shopify. Click the quote or order count.

The corresponding list opens with failed syncs selected, across all salespeople. A colleague's record can therefore appear alongside your own.

  2. Step 2: Filter the list yourself

On Quotes or Orders, choose Shopify sync, then Failed to sync. Rows identify records that failed to create in Shopify.

Use Find quotes and orders when other filters hide the sale. Check the customer and record number before opening a result.

Fix the reason and retry

  1. Step 1: Read the failure

Open the affected record. Read Shopify sync failed. Signing is blocked. and hover over the red sync status for the detailed reason.

Keep that reason visible while deciding what to correct. A retry sends the record again; it does not explain or repair every underlying problem.

  2. Step 2: Correct the named problem

Correct the information identified by the message, then save the change. If it names something you cannot resolve, keep the message for support.

  3. Step 3: Retry the sync

Click Retry Shopify sync in the banner, or choose Retry Shopify Sync from the ••• menu. Retrying Shopify sync confirms the request.

Wait for Draft synced on a draft-backed record, or Sync complete on an order-backed record. If it fails again, read the new reason.

Recreate a deleted Shopify draft

  1. Step 1: Confirm the deleted state

Open the record showing the red Deleted badge. This means its draft order was manually deleted in Shopify.

Check that you intend to recreate that draft. The badge describes the Shopify copy, so first establish which record you are looking at.

  2. Step 2: Recreate the draft

Choose •••, then Retry Shopify Sync. Wait for the sync to finish and check the resulting status.

The retry recreates the Shopify draft. Do not ask the customer to sign while the failure or syncing state remains.

What happens next

The successful record sync clears the failure banner and the corresponding failed count on Home. Signing becomes available again.

Use Get a quote signed when the quote is ready. Other signature requirements still apply.

Example: Olivia's quote reaches Shopify

Example · Harlow & Finch Interiors

Correct the reason, then retry

Olivia Bennett's Linden Sofa quote has a shipping-address error reported by Shopify.

  1. Sam Ortiz opens the quote from Home's failed count.
  2. Sam reads the reported address problem and corrects the affected information.
  3. Sam retries the sync and waits for Draft synced.
  4. Sam confirms the failure banner has cleared before continuing with Olivia.

If something goes wrong

Retry is missing or greyed out

Check your permissions and hover over the disabled control. The menu offers retry only for deleted drafts, failed creation, unsent records or failed syncs.

Shopify sync is already in progress

Wait for the current attempt to finish before deciding whether another retry is needed.

Order is not in a retryable Shopify sync state

Recheck the record's current status. Another attempt or change may already have moved it out of the failed state.

If it still fails

If you see Failed to retry Shopify sync for this quote, copy the error ID and keep the record number and failure message.

Follow Get help from support, or contact support@meetorderpilot.com with those details. For an order, keep the equivalent order error.
