Let shoppers add regular Shopify products to the same quote cart as configured templates. Use quote rules to decide which catalog products show Add to Quote.
This suits stock pieces sold directly from Shopify. Template products use the OrderPilot options block instead.
Before you start
Prepare the theme
Complete Set up your theme and understand the online quote journey.
Check access
Quote eligibility needs Manage order and quote settings.
Plan the rule
Decide which tags, Shopify categories or collections identify products customers may quote.
With no rule groups, every regular product shows Add to Quote. A rule group narrows that starting behavior.
Add the quote button
Step 1: Open the product template
In Shopify's theme editor, choose the product-page template used by your regular catalog product.
Use Arden Dining Table as the preview product. The editor shows the page where the button will appear.
Step 2: Add and save the block
Choose Add block > Add to Quote. Review Button text and Success message.
The defaults are Add to Quote and Added to Quote Cart. Save the theme; the block now provides the regular-product quote action.
On an OrderPilot template product, this block steps aside for the options block. Do not use it to bypass required template choices.
Choose eligible products
Step 1: Create a rule group
Go to SettingsOnline storeQuote eligibility and click Add group.
In Add quote rule group, enter Name and keep Active on when the group should affect shoppers.
Inactive groups are ignored online. They let you retain a rule without currently applying it.
Step 2: Choose the include logic
Under Match conditions with, choose OR (any include) or AND (all includes).
OR accepts a product matching any inclusion. AND requires it to match every inclusion.
The selected combiner now defines how this group's Include conditions work together.
Step 3: Add conditions
Add conditions with Effect set to Include or Exclude. Choose Tag, Category or Collection, then the matching value.
Each group needs at least 1 Include condition. Any matching Exclude condition fails that group.
A Category condition matches the product's own Shopify category exactly. It is not the OrderPilot category assigned to a template.
A Collection must be available on the Online Store sales channel so the storefront can check membership.
Step 4: Save the group
Click Add group. The group appears under Quote eligibility.
Review its active state and conditions before testing the storefront. You can have up to 50 groups, each with up to 50 conditions.
Combine several groups
Step 1: Choose the across-group rule
Under Match across groups, choose ANY group (OR) or ALL groups (AND).
ANY allows a product that passes one active group. ALL requires it to pass every active group.
Step 2: Check an included and excluded product
Review a regular Shopify product that should qualify and another that should not. Allow for rule publication and storefront caching.
Their pages should show the button according to the rules. Submission checks eligibility again even if an older page still showed the button.
An Exclude belongs to its group. With ANY across groups, another group can still qualify the product, so inspect the combined logic.
What happens next
Rules publish to Shopify within seconds. Product pages use the published result to show or hide Add to Quote.
The rule definitions are not exposed in the page source. The submitted request is checked again, so an ineligible product can be refused.
Regular Shopify product lines arrive without quoted prices for staff to complete. They do not collect template custom fields.
The request stays Being priced until staff release it. Follow Handle online quote requests before sending customer-facing prices.

Allow a tagged product, exclude clearance
Nora Ellis limits quoting at Harlow & Finch Interiors.
- Create an active group named Made to order.
- Include products with the made-to-order tag.
- Exclude products in the Clearance collection.
- Check a tagged Shopify Arden Dining Table.
- Check a Mira Dining Chair in Clearance.
The table qualifies through the tag. The chair fails that group because its collection matches an exclusion.
If something goes wrong
Add at least one INCLUDE condition appears
Add a positive matching condition before saving the group.
A collection is unavailable
Publish it to Online Store or choose another collection, then Check again.
Quote rules are not applied on product pages appears
An active group references an unavailable collection. Add to Quote remains visible broadly until the issue is fixed.
Some collections are not on the Online Store appears
An inactive group references one; it does not affect the storefront yet.
An excluded product still shows the button
Check the across-group logic, publication and caching.
OrderPilot also checks collection availability daily. If the button remains wrong after corrections, use Online store problems.
