Install OrderPilot, choose a plan and the locations it covers, and approve it in Shopify. Home then shows a setup list: up to 7 steps that open one at a time, each ticking itself when it's done. The last step sends you a real test quote.
Before you start
Is a location active?
You need at least one active Shopify location. Add or activate it in Shopify before you choose a plan.
Can you install and subscribe?
You need permission to install Shopify apps and the OrderPilot permission Manage billing. The store owner always has it.
Do you know how your team sells?
In the admin, on iPads in the showroom (Shopify POS), on your online store, or a mix. Each one you pick adds its own setup step.
An eligible store gets a free trial once. Check the offer on the install page rather than assuming a reinstall starts another trial.
Note
When you reinstall within a paid period, you keep the days you paid for and the install page doesn't ask again.
Choose a plan and locations
Step 1: Install the app
Find OrderPilot in the Shopify App Store, click Install and approve Shopify's permissions screen. OrderPilot opens on its install page.
Step 2: Pick a plan
Under Choose a plan, pick Essentials, Growth or Professional. Every plan is priced per location; Yearly saves 10%. A plan that covers fewer locations than you've ticked is greyed and says how many to untick.
Step 3: Tick your locations
Under Choose your locations, tick each Shopify location your team quotes or sells from. Each block shows the address and what that location does in Shopify. Your made-to-order location is free and always included, so it isn't listed.
Step 4: Approve it in Shopify
Check the total bar, then click Start free trial (or Continue to Shopify) and approve the subscription on Shopify's page. You come back to OrderPilot's setup list.
Work through the setup list
Step 1: Open Home
Home shows the setup list until every step is done or you skip it. One step is open at a time; the next one opens when you finish.
Step 2: Check your logo and business name
OrderPilot fills these from your theme and your Shopify brand. Check the logo, business name and support email, then click Looks good. Change colours, fonts and PDF looks later in SettingsBranding.
Step 3: Choose how your team sells
In the admin is always on. Tick On iPads in the showroom and On your online store if they apply; each adds its own step. Change it later in SettingsBusiness & locationsHow you sell.
Step 4: Add OrderPilot to your iPads
Only if you sell on iPads. On each iPad, in Shopify POS, tap Add tile, then Apps › OrderPilot, and add each tile listed. The step ticks itself the first time a tile opens. Details: Set up OrderPilot on POS.
Step 5: Add OrderPilot to your online store
Only if you sell online. Add the options block to your product pages and turn on the app embed in Shopify's theme editor (Add block opens it in the right place), then click Check again. Details: Set up your theme.
Step 6: Create your first product template
Click Create a template. The template's page opens with a Get it ready list; options are optional. The step ticks when your first template is saved. Details: Create a product template.
Step 7: Turn on customer emails
Pick one of the 6 email designs (Preview the emails shows all 7 customer emails in it). Then add the 3 DNS records at your domain provider, or click Email them these records to send them to whoever runs your domain. Come back here; OrderPilot checks every few minutes, and it can take up to a day. Your from address shows once the records are found. Details: Set up your sending domain.
Step 8: Send yourself a test quote
Enter your email under Send to, pick one of your templates under Product, and click Send test quote. The quote opens and asks to send it for signature, so you get the same email, portal, signing and payment pages a customer does. Without customer emails set up yet, the button reads Create test quote instead.
When everything is done
A congratulations screen replaces the list. Click Create your first quote or Go to home; Home goes back to its usual view.
Skip setup and finish it later
Click Skip setup at the top of the list and confirm. Home shows your quotes and orders instead. A setup bar on Home, Quotes, Orders and Create quote or order lists what's left: click Resume setup, or a step's chip, to open the list on that step.
Permission
The setup list's steps change shop settings, so they need Manage shop settings; the test quote also needs Create and edit quotes and orders. Someone without them sees Home as usual.
What happens next
Starter records are added after the first sign-in, and empty branding fields fill from your live theme. Give these lists a moment to finish loading.
When you're ready, the setup list's When you’re ready links cover the rest: quote terms, categories, options and bundles, purchase orders, and staff and permissions. How Settings is organized maps every Settings page.
To change your plan or locations later, see Your subscription and the locations it covers.

From installation to a signed test quote

If something goes wrong
A plan is greyed
It covers fewer locations than you've ticked. Untick the number it says, or pick a bigger plan.
Start free trial is greyed
Tick at least one location, and check your role has Manage billing. Hover for the reason.
"An admin needs to start OrderPilot" shows
Your role can't choose a plan. Copy the link and send it to the store owner.
Subscription wasn't completed
No charge was made for that attempt. Return to the install page when you're ready.
A step stays unticked
Steps tick from real data: a verified domain, a saved template, an opened POS tile, the block on your live theme. Click Check again where it's offered.
Waiting for DNS for more than a day
Check the records match exactly at your domain provider, then click Check again.
The setup list is missing
Setup was finished or skipped. If skipped, the setup bar's Resume setup brings it back.
