Fix a problem on POS

A button is greyed out, a screen will not load, or Take Payment stops before Shopify's payment screen. Start with the message beside the action: it tells you whether to complete a field, ask for access or wait for Shopify.

Check these first

Read the line beneath the button and any banner at the top. Tap the information control beside a greyed-out action to open its reason.

Check the iPad's connection. OrderPilot on POS needs an internet connection for every screen.

Wait a few seconds, then retry the action. If it remains unavailable, close and reopen the order or tile. Keep the order number and any Error ID so you can identify the same attempt.

Before retrying a payment, read whether the message says the order was created. That message directs you to the existing Shopify order.

A button is greyed out

  1. Step 1: Read the permission reason

Tap the information control beside the action. Alerts such as Payment unavailable, Shipping can’t be changed or Can’t save the item yet explain the restriction.

An Access restricted tile can still open its explanation. A locked screen shows a reason and Close. An order outside your scope can open view only.

Ask your manager to check shared-register access when the reason names your role. Reopening the same record does not grant the missing permission.

  2. Step 2: Complete the missing information

Follow the reason under the button. A new quote needs a customer and product, and an item needs its required options.

Apply delivery needs a name and price. Save split needs sales credit totaling 100%. Complete the missing information and check that the action becomes available.

For the complete entry sequence, use create a quote or order.

Shopify is still updating the order

  1. Step 1: Check the tax row

When the payment button reads Calculating tax…, wait for Shopify's tax. The total is not ready for payment while tax is being calculated.

If the row changes to Not calculated yet · Refresh, tap Refresh. The screen requests the updated tax and reports when it arrives.

Do not use the earlier estimate as the confirmed payment amount.

  2. Step 2: Let an update finish

Updating the order in Shopify moves on when the update completes. A delete action can show Still syncing until that work finishes.

Wait before changing the same record again. Once the update finishes, check the order's total and the action you wanted to use.

The payment guide explains the normal sequence after the order is ready.

A screen will not load

  1. Step 1: Retry a failed list

For Could not load staff, Could not load the customer's addresses or Unable to load customers, check the connection and tap Try again.

The retry belongs to the list that failed. Confirm that the expected customer, address or staff choices load before continuing the sale.

Do not choose a different customer or salesperson to work around an unavailable list.

  2. Step 2: Read the screen error

Use the message to decide your next action.

Screen messages

MessageNext action
Request timed out. Check your connection.Restore the connection, then retry
Could not load session. Sign in or check app permissions.Have the person responsible for the register check its sign-in and access
The server could not complete the request.Keep the Error ID and retry once
Couldn’t open this. Go back and try again.Go back and reopen the screen
This needs a newer OrderPilot server. Try again later.Contact support if the message persists

Receipt printing and signing QR codes also require the order's location to be on the subscription. Ask the owner to check location coverage.

Take Payment stops before checkout

  1. Step 1: Follow the waiting message

Syncing order with Shopify… and Sending this to Shopify. Checkout opens when it’s ready. mean the order is still being prepared.

For Checkout isn’t ready, wait a few seconds and tap Take Payment again. If it still does not open, reopen the order.

If Shopify has not finished updating, tap Back and try Take Payment again shortly. The conversion runs once per order, so a second tap does not create another order.

  2. Step 2: Retry a failed Shopify sync

If the message says the record is not in Shopify or its sync failed, open the same record in the OrderPilot app.

Open the order's menu and choose Retry Shopify Sync. Follow failed-sync troubleshooting to resolve the reported cause.

Return to the existing POS record after the sync succeeds. Creating a replacement quote leaves the original problem unresolved.

  3. Step 3: Open an already-created order

For The order was created. Open it from Orders in POS to collect payment., open Shopify POS's Orders and locate that order.

For Couldn’t turn this into a Shopify order, retry the conversion. The temporary Due on receipt terms added by that failed attempt are taken back.

Once the existing order opens in Shopify's payment screen, check the amount before collecting payment.

If it still fails

Close and reopen the order once more. Send support@meetorderpilot.com the order number, exact message and Error ID through support help.

Include the action you attempted, whether the error repeats and whether the order already appears in Shopify. This helps support distinguish a screen problem from a completed conversion.
